The amendment proposal has recently been announced by Compromís and Unides Podem in which it requests to include tourist taxes in the Law of Accompaniment of the Generalitat’s budgets for 2022. This rate represents a tax that ranges between 0.5 to 2 euros per day, for tourists visiting the Community of Valencia.
The amendment, registered this Wednesday before the closing of the deadline at midnight, defends the creation of a “Valencian tourist stay tax” as an indirect, “instantaneous” tribute and typical of the Community. For their part, the Socialists warned a few days ago that the implementation was complicated and that it was better to pose as a commitment for the future.
The implementation, according to the proposal, would be paid at any time before the end of the trip and those under the age of 16 would be exempt from the tax, stays subsidized by social programs of public administrations of any EU country and overnight stays for health reasons or By force majeure
According to information published by the news portal El Mundo de España, the Valencian tourist rate would range between 0.5 and 2 euros per day even if the stay was shorter. Specifically, tourists staying in rural hotels of one to three stars, blocks and complexes of standard category tourist housing, pensions, city hostels and standard category tourist hostels, campsites, overnight areas in transit for motorhomes and camping in private farm.
The rate would be one euro per day for visitors to hotels and aparthotels of one to three stars, hotels and rural houses of three and four stars, blocks and complexes of first-class tourist houses and tourist lodges of higher category.
A euro and a half would pay for those who stay in three and four star hotels, rural hotels and rural houses with four superior stars, five stars or great luxury, blocks and complexes of superior category tourist houses and tourist cruise ships. And two euros will be paid by people who choose four-star superior, five-star or luxury hotels and aparthotels.
In case of not paying the fee, the amendment foresees sanctions in accordance with the General Tax Law and the rest of the complementary regulations, with fines of 300 euros in case of complete or inaccurate consignment or lack of consignment in the self-assessment. The lack of income of the tax will be considered a serious offense, with proportional and gradual fines.
