Airbnb prepares details to start charging in Cryptoassets

For some time many of the Airbnb platform’s customers have been asking the company to include cryptoassets among its payment methods, and it was not until January 5, 2022, when the company’s CEO, Brian Chesky, through a tweet, stated that this request is already underway and that it can be executed in a short period of time.

In this sense, he expressed that there are several applications for this year, indicating that within an order of the most demanded, are:

1 – Cryptographic payments (top suggestion).

2 – Clear price displays

3 – Guest loyalty program

4 – Updated cleaning rates.

5 – More long term stays and discounts.

6 – Improved customer service

In addition, the executive expanded on the post by remarking that the options will include various token ideas. These new projects will be followed by clear pricing displays, guest loyalty program, updated cleaning rates and improved customer service. And he emphasized that he was already working with some of these suggestions and will be working on others, hinting that they will be announcing crypto acceptance momentarily.

He also added that Airbnb had processed $336 billion worth of payments since 2013, although currently the payment methods in place are: Visa, MasterCard, Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal.
