Although Spain continues to be one of the destinations in the world with the highest number of visits, its numbers have recently been overshadowed by the new Omicron variant, which has produced endless cancellations, especially from international tourists, such is the case of the British.
According to data from the TravelgateX platform, the numbers plummet in each and every one of the Autonomous Communities, with the exception of Andalusia, Madrid and Aragon. This is noticeable mainly in the Communities of Valencia, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands, in which the numbers of decreases are quite high.

In this way, in some Communities the positive trend of improvements in recent weeks compared to 2019 has been broken, despite the fact that all of them are still above the 2019 levels.
We see then that the Community of Andalusia maintains good levels of reserves, conserving 20.33% of the reserves nationwide. Followed by Madrid with 16.04% of reserves and an increase of 5.41% compared to last year and finally Aragon which, although it does not have such high numbers, maintains its linear level.
On the other hand, national citizens are once again the main applicants for bookings by a landslide during this week. They represent 76%, while the demand by foreign tourists covers a figure close to 24%, with British tourists the one that maintains the highest figure (7.7%), although it also loses share compared to previous weeks. In this regard, the main preferences are trips as a couple (43%), and alone (32.2%), opting for outings of between one and five nights (88.7%).
Finally, as regards the anticipation of reserves, the range between zero and one day predominates (17.9%), which means that the new outbreaks have re-established the fear of restrictions and the fear of contagion. However, reservations made between eight and 14 days before the trip cover 16.9%. It should also be noted that citizens hope to be able to take a vacation in the coming months, as 13.7% choose to book more than 90 days in advance.
