There are many and very different profiles of the hosts of a tourist accommodation, depending on the size of their properties will have more or less work, according to their agility to outsource large parts of their activities will be more or less efficient, in short, there are many factors that can influence the development of a host. That is why we have decided to bring you a classification made a few weeks ago by the Cohosting platform, which describes the 4 most common types of hosts, it would be interesting to know which one you identify with.
The traditional host
This is the host who likes to do things by himself. He/she carries out the integral management of his/her home, if he/she doesn’t have enough time for it, he/she finds it. He/she is not only in charge of advertising the accommodation on platforms, but also manages the cleaning and maintenance of the property, performs the check-in, gives the basic explanations of the property, shows the map of the city and explains to the guests the most important places in the city.
He believes in the collaborative economy and wants to make his guests’ stay an experience, feeling it as his own.
The professional
His premise is the opportunity cost “what we give up when we make an economic decision”, that is to say, if he derives the complete management of his tourist accommodation to an integral management company, he will obtain profitability for his accommodation (obviously not the same as if he managed it full time) but it will allow him to have time to dedicate it to another business and thus multiply the opportunity to obtain different types of profitability.
He believes in specialization and professionalization, he knows that, as an integral management company dedicated to it, he will not be able to do it, nor to offer so many services, he knows his limits and he is ambitious.
The detail-oriented
He is very meticulous with the small details for the guest, he receives them well groomed and usually has welcome combos with breakfast or snack. He always offers a guide to the best local sites. He wants them to live the experience as if it were his own. He believes in quality service to make the guest’s stay unique.
He often shares his experiences with guests, gives them advice and wants to make their visit something really special. He travels as much as his time allows and is always looking for new ways to surprise his guests.
The adventurer
His lively and cheerful personality, makes him provide guests with information relevant to him, places to visit, guides, plans, always offers brochures, tickets…although it can be a double-edged sword.
This type of Host is the first one to go out for a night or an afternoon with his guests, to have a drink, show them around the city or simply talk about his experiences, his phone, always available.
