Comfort, the possibility of hiring food services and complementary facilities are the main reasons for choosing a hotel or holiday accommodation, according to the National Observatory of Outbound Tourism (ObservaTUR), which has asked national tourists who have travelled this summer what the main reasons were when choosing accommodation, among different variables.
Thus, those surveyed responded “overwhelmingly” that, in the case of hotels, the main reason was comfort, as opposed to aspects such as the possibility of hiring food services (breakfast, lunch and/or dinner) or complementary facilities (swimming pool, gym…), which were the arguments given in second and third order.
The aforementioned criteria are followed by price
Cleanliness and entertainment activities, which closes the chapter on preferences in this type of accommodation.
Tourist accommodation
Those who have opted for tourist accommodation in the summer, for their part, are of the same opinion and also cite comfort as the main reason for choosing this type of accommodation.
This is the only coincidence with the previous ones, as travellers who have made use of the rented accommodation put other criteria first, such as the possibility of cooking for themselves or the price. In these cases, moreover, the issue of cleanliness is of less concern.
Rural houses
For those who have chosen a rural house to enjoy their holidays, the most reiterated reason was that of safety, as they consider that, as there is less overcrowding, there are greater guarantees of keeping their distance. Comfort is also a very important aspect for rural travellers, as is the possibility of cooking independently. Price is also a factor that is very much taken into consideration.
Campsites
And price is precisely the reason most often cited by travellers who have opted for camping this summer, followed by comfort and complementary facilities. Safety guarantees and entertainment activities are also highly mentioned, although to a lesser extent than the previous ones. The question of having one’s own kitchen, which stands out to a very limited extent, closes this table of preferences.
