Summer vacation rental scams continue. Find out which was the most used channel for scams
Recently it has been announced the closure of a web portal through which thousands of tourists were scammed, offering them holiday homes that did not exist or that if they existed they were never rented.
The website that has been suspended after the complaints is ‘Dream travel’, from where many families have been robbed. However, we must be cautious, because there are other pages with vacation offers that are still active and can continue to defraud, as is the case of ‘Costa-Villas.eu’, which continues to put ads for rentals, despite complaints from affected people.
The Police has warned that since the end of the lockdown there is a real ‘boom’ of vacation scams that are spread throughout the country, so it recommends asking for documentation before paying the deposit for vacation rentals.
In the case of Spain, Comunitat Valenciana, Police forces say that they do not stop receiving complaints. In fact, they have already received more than 300. There, fraudsters have pocketed more than 35,000 euros in the area of Denia or Gandia at the expense of the illusion of many families. In addition, in Galicia, scams have been registered in holiday homes in the area of the Costa da Morte.
News that we hope warns travelers who are organizing their vacations to access trusted booking portals and official pages of tourist accommodations. For the owners, it will be very important to communicate from which channels travelers can book your accommodation safely.
