15 Tips to boost hotel revenue

It is time to take charge of your sales, the summer has passed and now the winter is coming, the holidays are not completely over and as hosts and managers we have to achieve the best for our hotels. That is why Chekin brings you 10 tips to increase your revenue in the coming months:

  1. Convert rooms into workspaces: During the pandemic, many hoteliers and companies were successful in renting rooms by the day to use as offices, offering special packages to attract displaced workers.
  2. Change rooms faster: Dan Ryan, co-founder of cleaning consultancy Blue Canary Solutions, recommends changing rooms faster. “If hospitals can convert rooms in less than an hour, then there is no reason for a hotel to keep its room inventory idle for 72 hours,” he said.
  3. Expand on-the-go options: Janine Williams, owner of Impulsify, suggested reaching out to local restaurants and asking them to prepare meals for guests using hotel packaging and labels. “The local approach can also give guests a more regional and unique experience, while supporting small local businesses.”
  4. Activate outdoor spaces: Many hotels have lots of unused rooms in their parking lots. If the side streets of New York City can be turned into restaurants, then hotels can surely get creative to drive revenue.
  5. Integrate technology: Angel Redondo Tena, vice president of real estate and business development at hotel technology company Journey, said technology can help hoteliers streamline operations and eliminate excesses throughout the property.
  6. Take Advantage of Texting – Aqua-Aston Hospitality’s new texting platform allows guests to quickly request add-ons like on-site spa treatments, reducing the chances of changing your mind while they wait.
  7. Host Special Events: Robert A. Rauch, CEO / Founder of San Diego-based hotel management and consulting firm RA Rauch and Associates, hosted a beer tasting, wine tasting, and spirits tasting for past guests and corporate clients. “Events like this have really boosted our slow-return corporate business!”
  1. Working with tour operators: Aqua-Aston has been working with PlacePass, an activity booking platform that allows guests to organize excursions and provides a commission to the host hotel.
  2. Reuse Space: The Hyatt Centric Las Olas Fort Lauderdale converted one of the property’s unused rooms into a reservations-only speakeasy. “Revenues far exceed what a standard room would have generated,” said James Hansen, vice president of sales and marketing for Kolter Hospitality.
  3. Don’t forget to upsell: Promote room upgrades, breakfast, parking and other services to guests before they arrive and cross-sell other hotel services like spa treatments, restaurants, or room service, said Lee Grant, CEO of technology company Wrangu.
