Who are the top earning hosts on Airbnb?

Airbnb has a wide range of tourist accommodation, of all types, urban, rural, beach, rustic, classic, in short, as you search, however, none has escaped the great crisis produced by covid 19, during In 2020 and so far in 2021, none have yet recovered from the great losses that have occurred.

However, the company has explained that there is an exception to this loss rule, and they are the so-called unique properties. But what these unique, simple properties consist of are the cabins and tree houses, which according to Airbnb, unlike ordinary accommodations, have seen their demand grow 94% between March 2020 and June this year. As a consequence, according to internal data, the hosts of unique stays have earned a total of more than 250 million euros globally and three million euros in Spain since the start of the pandemic.

Increase in searches for yurts

Figures from the listed company show an increase in searches for yurts (a kind of sustainable tents) of 1,701%. Likewise, the consultation of cabins registered a rebound of 1,379%, and that of ‘cave houses’, another of 1,285%. In addition, the platform informs on its official page that Spanish travelers are increasingly looking for accommodation near great places and national parks. Properties close to nature saw their demand rise 60% in this period. In fact, the destinations that set the trend this summer – such as Picos de Europa, Teide, Doñana and Ordesa and Monte Perdido – are less than 30 minutes by car from this type of area of high natural wealth.

Thus, the sector is reactivated. Half of the new accommodations that entered the Airbnb online market and were booked in early 2021 received a reservation request during the first four days, and the average annual income for each host who received at least one guest was 8,000 euros. 1,000% are joined by barns, farms and houseboats.

The company recognizes that a large part of its users use the platform to find pleasant destinations from which to telecommute to break the monotony of their first residence. For this reason, the platform has launched a new tool in Spain that allows hosts to measure the speed of their internet network in their accommodations and publish the information in their advertisements.
