Guest tested positive for COVID at my hotel. What should I do?

This long-awaited summer has arrived, there is a lot of tourist movement, people decided to travel within their country or bet on an international trip. There are many controls that are carried out in airports to enter a country, currently at least one negative test exam or vaccination certificate is requested, but what hotels are doing to guarantee that their guests are healthy or what protocols should be followed.

In light of this, hotel owners should review their processes and procedures to protect their hotels from infectious diseases, including COVID-19. Owners should also consider and plan for a situation where guests or workers are diagnosed with coronavirus. Hotel owners should consider the following..

Protecting your hotel from an on-site outbreak

1. Make sure all guests and workers are aware of and follow all health and safety guidelines available from sources such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), OSHA, and other hotel and lodging business groups.

2. Clean your hotel regularly. This includes sanitizing frequently used surfaces at least daily and minimizing the sharing of everyday items. It also means making sure your hotel is properly ventilated.

3. Limit the number of workers and guests that can be accommodated in the hotel by consecrating themselves anywhere in the hotel.

4.-Consider preparing notices in advance. This includes letters that notify guests and workers of a mandatory lockdown or quarantine, notify guests and workers who may have been exposed to the virus, and notify an insurer, lender, or investor of a possible impact caused by the coronavirus, including any impediment or delay to payment.

5.-Create a contingency plan in case a government order closes your hotel completely, or a government order limits the guests who can stay in your hotel to medical personnel, lifeguards and other essential guests.
