E-invoicing

Ready for mandatory e-invoicing (XRechnung & ZUGFeRD).

From 2025, e-invoicing becomes mandatory in Germany in stages, based on the XRechnung and ZUGFeRD formats. Businesses can issue e-invoices from 1 January 2025; it becomes mandatory above €800,000 turnover from 1 January 2027, and for all businesses — including B2C — by 2028.

Chekin integrates with certified invoicing systems, so e-invoicing runs alongside your guest registration instead of becoming one more manual task as the thresholds tighten.

  • From 1 Jan 2027: mandatory above €800,000 turnover

Tourist tax

Local tourist and cultural tax, handled automatically.

Some German cities and municipalities charge a local tourist tax (Kurtaxe) or cultural tax (Kulturförderabgabe) on overnight stays. The rate varies by location, and exemptions often apply — for example for business travellers or minors.

Chekin adapts to each municipality's rules and calculates, collects and reports the tax automatically, so the right amount is charged to every guest with no manual lookups.

Kurtaxe / Kulturförderabgabe
Set at municipal level
  • Rate varies by city and municipality
  • Exemptions for business travellers and minors
  • Configurable to each municipality's rules
