The United Kingdom had many problems to start having a busy summer with tourists, since there have been many restrictions imposed by the British government. Last week we showed in a news item the level of hotel occupancy that the United Kingdom currently has, being one of the highest in Europe. But the question is, how do they do it with so many restrictions? The truth is that the United Kingdom, although it is one of the countries that has the highest number of people vaccinated with the two doses, has developed an advertising policy to promote domestic over international tourism. With the implementation of the covid traffic light, there have been many limitations to their nationals to travel abroad, so they have preferred to stay at home and enjoy the so-called “staycations”.
This time we show you that not only the hotel sector is having a boom in the United Kingdom, but also the short-term rental sector, at least in London it is performing with very good figures, as suggested by a study carried out in association with the UK Short-Term Accommodation Association (STAA), which measures the top three accommodation sectors by simultaneously comparing how London’s short-term rentals, hotels and serviced apartments have performed against each other.
In terms of occupancy, short-term rentals were considerably ahead of others with an average of 62.7% in June. Hotels stood at 40.6% and aparthotels at 39.7%. Year over year, that’s a 35.7% increase for short-term rentals
Short-term rentals saw an increase in average length of stay from 10.6 days in May to 11.0 days in June. In June last year, the average length of stay in a short-term rental was just 9.4 days. There is no comparable data with hotels and serviced apartments for this metric.
For revenue per available room (RevPAR), short-term rentals came back ahead averaging £ 79.20 in June, a 59.5% year-on-year increase, compared to hotels that averaged £ 40.40 and serviced apartments that averaged £ 57.80.
While there has been a notable absence of international visitors in London, the news that fully vaccinated people from Europe and the US will be welcomed in England from 4 August should help improve the outlook for many operators and boost the recovery of the capital. accommodation.
With this high occupancy that vacation rentals are having and the good projections for this month of August and September, it becomes necessary to streamline internal processes, offer guests a comfortable and comfortable stay, give your guests the possibility of making their reservations and your check-in process as quickly and easily as possible, how? We will show you here.
